COMPANY HISTORY

Infotehna was founded in 1988, when six bright and enterprising employees of the Iskra company in Novo Mesto decided to found an umbrella organization for a future technological holding. Following the enactment of the new law on companies, the partners increased the capital of the company and in May 1990, Infotehna became one of the first limited liability companies to be entered in the Novo mesto Register of Companies.

During the initial years of its operations, Infotehna focused on the development of software, systems integration and the functional training of computer system users.

In keeping with our plans, we founded five dependent companies, whose tasks within the holding were the development and integration of software and to provide consulting services, while we concerned ourselves with developing the strategic development guidelines, financing and sales. The promising beginning was followed by a hard landing: with Slovenia's achievement of independence, 80 percent of what was then our market disappeared almost overnight and the extent of our business operations decreased significantly. For a short while we operated as a regional internet access provider, however discontinued our investments into the infrastructure after a while due to unfavorable macroeconomic conditions.

The management of the company soon realized that specialization is necessary. In 1996, there was a huge open market niche in the area of electronic document management (EDMS). It was a challenge we were happy to take up and were soon tackling the issues related to the reorientation of the company's operations. The goal we set ourselves was to set up a system which would solve the problems of all those organizations that need to deal in their activities with complicated business procedures and large quantities of documents. Soon thereafter we entered into an agreement of business cooperation with the then already established U.S. company, Documentum.

The genesis of these new ideas was followed by a period of development. All our efforts were directed at building specific business solutions. In this we drew upon the valuable experience that our customers shared with us. We wove our findings, innovations and knowledge into solutions which today are effective, practical and user-friendly. We linked our applications with other information systems and additionally upgraded them to function in a web environment.

Another step forward was made when we decided to focus on the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector. It might seem that this was a random choice, but luck had little  to do with it; we chose pharmaceutics deliberately and after giving the matter considerable thought, as a large part of our strong knowledge base is constituted of experts with a wealth of experience in this field.

Today our efforts are supported by results that we are very proud of: Since 1996 we have cut a steep path of development and growth and our sales revenues have increased tenfold in this period. We have grown into one of the most rapidly expanding Slovenian companies and in 2005 for the second time running came into the final round for the Gazela award of the Dolenjska-Posavska region. Our goal is clear and ambitious: to become the leading supplier of EDMS, CTD, eCTD and NeeS Solutions  for the generic pharmaceutical industry Worldwide.
